The class of 54 started 728 high school days back In 1950 - 51 as Funny Freshman with Robert Hathaway as our president, Betty Lou Blaylock, vice president; Jean Grant, secretary; Nancy LaVanway, treas, and Dick Whltrlght, student council representlve. Mr. Miller was our class sponsor. There were 26 enrolled In the class. They were: Robert Hathaway, Jeanette Auffert, Allan Bellman, Betty Lou Blaylock, Sam Dunaetz, Les Duncan, Jack Dukesherer, Wanda Fain, Linda Frank, Llga Frieda, John Grabouskl, Nila Jean Grant, Charles Haskins, Bud Herman , Jerry Kremers, Nancy LaVanway, Mary Lou Phillips,Eldon Paustlan,Kenneth Slatton, Esther Street, Pat Smith, Sally Tldey, Charles Walters, Weldon Waldrop, Richard Whltrlght, and Theresa Wilbur. As, we entered Into the year of 1951-52 as Silly Sophomores', we had Nila Jean Grant, president; Elmer Enders, vice president; Kenneth Slatton, secretary; Esther Street, treasurer; Les Duncan, student coun- cil representative; and Linda Frank and Eldon Paustian as the reporters Mrs. Ferris was our class sponsor. There were 22 enrolled, 6 dropped out, they were: Betty Lou Blaylock, Wanda Fain, Llga Frieda, Robert Hathaway, Pat Smith, Weldon Waldrop. The additions were: Elmer Enders and Jim Young. Now In the year of 1952-53 we were Jolly Juniors . We had Nancy LaVanway for president, Eldon Paustian, vice president; Sally Tldey, secretary; Barbara Martin, treasurer; Richard Farkas,reporter;and Linda Frank, student council representlve. Mr. Rhinard was our class sponsor. There were 22 at the first of the year, those that dropped were:Kenneth Slatton, Jeanette Auffert, John Grabouskl, Esther Street, Charles Has- kins. There were also some additions: Barbara Martin, Kathryn Dickson Janice Collins, Alice Bahus, Eldon Merrill, Dick Farkas, and Jean Harri- son. We entered Into the la3t year of high school, 1953-514- as Superior Seniors and our officers for the year were Nancy LaVanway, president; Jack Dukesherer, vice president; Sally Tldey, secretary; Kathryn Dickson treasurer; Eldon Merrill,' reporter; and Alice Bahus,student council reji Mr. Formsma and Mrs. Ferris were our sponsors for our very last year. The following students dropped out: Jean Grant, Allan Bellman, Mary Lou Phillips, Jean Harrison, Linda Frank, Dick Farkas, and Dick Whltrlght. Which leaves 16 to graduate May 27, 1954. During the past four years In school each student has tried to make-up their minds as to what they are go- ing to do when they graduate. Professor Atom will now make an accurate prophecy of what these students will be doing In 1961 . Mr. Duke: Professor Atom your first subject is Alice Bahus. Professor: You like Commercial work very much. Alice: (Suprlsed) how do you know? Professor: That is my secret. Yes I can see you as head of your own Business College. Mr. Duke: Our next guest Is Sam Dunaetz. Professor: You have been around farming all your life,i can see you as a wealthy river bottom farmer. Mr. Duke: The next student is Janice Collins. Professor: You are to be married soon. By 1961 you will be taking care of your twins. Mr. Duke: Leslie Duncan. Professor: Although you have had an average Interest In school you will one day be a Professor at Western Michigan College. Mr. Duke: Kathryn Dickson. Professor: You have always wanted to be a nurse. I fore-see that you will be head nurse In charge of all military hospitals. Mr. Duke: Jerry Kremers would like to know his future. Professor: I see you will own the V.M. Corporation where you have worked. Mr. Duke: Nancy LaVanway. Professor: Yours is a little hard to say. I know that you will be teaching little kids to be have. You will undoubtedly be a housewife and grade school teacher.
