Barbara Heaton Hall Monitors We hate to think what the halls would be like without the ever-faith- ful hall monitors. Duties of the moni- tors are: to direct all visitors and new students to the rooms they are seek- ing. to keep order in the halls between classes, to keep the corridors neat, and to check all locker permits and hall passes. I For all the help we receive from them, we should like to thank the hall monitors. unior Library With the help of nineteen staff members, Miss Thompson circulates approximately 100 books per day to elementary pupils from the second to the sixth grade. First graders begin to visit the library the second semester, after they have learned to read and can find new adventure in borrowing books. The second through sixth grades visit the library once a week with their classes, and in between times the children browse individually through the collection of about 3,000 fiction and non-fiction books. Many of the grades have enjoyed stories told by Mrs. Goff's Speech II class. Seated: Alice Van Loon, Mary McDonald, Gerry Rioux, jane Simpson. In addition to the 6,000 to 7.000 books available there are picture files, files of vocational ma- terial. 40 current magazines, and files of the magazines' past issues. New tables and fluorescent lights were added to the room this year. There are 15 members on the staff whose duties are: checking books in and out, arranging books on the shelves, working at the desk, taking attendance, and preparing new books for distribution. A helping hand is willingly offered by Miss Thompson to all who request library material. Mrs. Kennett and Mrs. Page each take charge of the library one hour a day.
