BAND Thirty-live boys and girls were at one time or another members of the R. G. S. band during the past school year, which was under the direction of Mr. Meeker. ln March several members participated in the district band con- test at Monticello. First places were won by the saxophone quartet- Mary I-lolzhauer, John Hulett, Sandra Sue Drysdale, Carl Prevette, cornet solo-Craig Chambers. and baritone solos-Roger I-lulett and Eldon Versteeg. Those winning second places were flute solo-Diane James, cornet solo- Stanley Parker, and saxophone solo- Mary I-lolzhauer. The 1948 Mirror

The representatives were Rex Parker, land- scape: Lowell Hill, cartoon. The alternates were Marion Turrell and Ralph Davis. Larry Colaw, not pictured, also represented the school with an oil painting in a national contest. These projects were sponsored by Mrs. Martha Bing- ham, art teacher.

MIXED CHORUS The mixed chorus under the direction of Mrs. Waters attended the Spring Festival on April 9th at St. Joseph. Illinois. The chorus consists of Zl girls and 8 boys. A Boys' Ensemble made up of six boys, Deane lVlcConkey, Chuck Leonard. Russell Overholt, James Dunn, Leonard Trump. and James Smith. were included. The festi- val songs were Jeannie, Prayer from Hansel and Ciretelf' Cloud Ships, The Heavens Are Telling. Buy My Tortillasf' Wlio Did? and Carmen Carmelliaf' This same chorus sang for P. T. A. and Commencement. Some members of the chorus also sang for one of the meetings of the Junior Women's Club. The 1948 Mirror
