X, , The 1948 Mirror CHEERLEADERS Chee hee, Chee ha, Chee ha, ha, ha, Rantoul Bulldogs, Rah, Rahl Rah! In the fall of 1947 this was one of the yells echoing through the upper halls. The girls in the seventh and eighth grades were practicing for the tryouts as cheerleaders. Then the time came when they were to be chosen. The fortunate ones were Nancy Collins, Shirley Carney. Patricia Lathrop, and Patricia Carter. These energetic cheerleaders attended every game, and greatly contributed to the success of the basketball teams throughout the year.

They played two thrilling overtime games, winning one from Paxton and losing one to St. Joseph. In the county tournament, Rantoul lost to Homer in the opening game.
