44 Opening La ndslide Reagan bales up straw vote Just as presidental candidate Ronald Reagan and the New Right were swept into power on Nov. A, a mock vote conducted at EHS six days before the election resulted in a preview of the Republican landslide. The political rally held at EHS on Tuesday, Oct. 28 was the only one held in the El Paso high schools for Campaign 80. Explained student debater Beverly Kerr, We figured this would be a good way to get both students who could and could nc vote aware of the issues and acquainted with the candidates. The assembly was entitled UA Political Awareness Rally and was organized by the speech, art and journalism departments as w as student council. Debaters and journalists joined efforts to introdu the speakers and the issues.
