“
Where the hills of Onondaga Meet the eastern sky so blue And the gold of every sunrise Seems to cast its softest hue Place them over our Alma Mater To float on breezes bold Waving proudly over Eastwood High All hail the blue and gold. If we could but leave thee never Leave thy halls we know so well But our paths lead from thee ever So we let our voices swell And we'll rise and stand together And give a hearty cheer For Eastwood High, our Alma Mater That we hold so dear. When the shades of life are falling And clouds of dark there be Still to you ever calling Our praise shall be to thee And our thoughts are faithful ever As through a golden haze In all life's ways forgetting never Eastwood High School Days. Foreword s you gaze around the halls of Eastwood, you get the vivid picture of the Ivy League” trend which is prominent with the modern teenager today. We, the Senior Class of 1958, have therefore chosen Ivy League as the theme to symbolize this trend in our high school days. E, the Senior Class of 1958, proudly dedicate Eastwood's 34th annual to Mr. John V. Meath, whose sincere guidance as Vice-Principal and Boy's Guidance Counsellor has helped many students along the road to success. Your guidance and inspiration to the students of Eastwood High School will never be forgotten. There will always be a place in our hearts for a person who has done so much for us. As your last year at Eastwood draws to a close, we sincerely hope that you have all the happiness that you deserve. Your presence in the office will always be remembered and no one will ever forget your friendliness. English, Languages, Librarian Seated, left to right: Allyn Phillips, English: Bernice H. President Dave Sequin called the members of the Senior Class of 1958 to order for their first meeting on November 6, 1957. Lucy Parisi assisted Dave as vice- president. The task of taking minutes was welcomed by Sheila Anderson, and Ed Heck gladly accepted the job of handling financial matters. One of the biggest phases of Ed's financial job was the handling of the funds from the senior play, Dino, under the capable direction of Allyn Phillips and assistance of Bill Snyder. The main characters were portrayed by Joe Falasco and Gary Parzych as Dino, Judy Hamilton and Bev Stevens as Shirley, Bruce McNeil and Tom Heater as Mr. Sheridan, and Mihran Babikian and Gene Heffron as Tony. The Class of 1958 is distinguished by the fact that twenty-five percent of the class made the honor roll of 85 percent or above. In addition, Judy Hamilton, valedictorian, deserves an orchid for achieving the highest four year scholastic record ever attained by any student in Eastwood High School's thirty-seven years. That enviable average was 97.57. In April 1958, the senior class held their senior dance in the gymnasium of Eastwood High. There the happy couples danced away to the latest pop tunes. On June 6 the Senior Ball was presented in the main ballroom of Hotel Syracuse. There, starry-eyed couples danced dreamily to the unforgettable melodies of Jack Kreischer and his orchestra. With the commencement exercises on June 23, the high school days of the Class of 1958 drew to a close. Eastwood gives Inge more enjoyment because both boys and girls attend and are able to join in the many varied activities we offer. She is a member of the Choir, Alpha Pi Omega sorority, Dramat- ics Club, College Clinic, Honor Society, and the swimming class at the Y.W.C.A. Also, studies are easier in America, Inge said with a smile. In Austria I have sixteen subjects a week while here at Eastwood I have only five. When the American Field Service asked Inge what her reasons were for wanting to come to America, she replied, I wish to bring the two countries closer together, and more important, I want to take back to Austria a true picture of American life. We, the Senior Class of 1958, are happy to have given Inge her chance to see America and know its people. It is our hope that her memories of Eastwood and the friends she made will never be forgotten. f A05T POPULAR ?10ST’ likely nu5iCiM s3 g % 1 M'V | iv | ui|« I i I'npr l til | i| | « k| |«l |in pnr • l« iii | f 19 20 21 22 25 34 25 24 «7 26 29 30 c r !
