Miss Eastside Joy Zeigler Kathy Whitman Connie Snyder September 14 was the date set for the Miss Eastside contest. This year six girls competed for the title. Each girl presented her talent and then they were all asked the question, What has Eastside given you? Maureen Curry performed a jazz dance to Shining Star , Margaret McCollough sang Let Me Be The One , and Tammy Warstler sang Come and Let Me Look in Your Eyes . Kathy Whitman selected Day by Day , a song from the musical GODSPELL, and Joy Zeigler demonstrated her talent with a ventriloquist act. Connie Snyder sang Give Me Nothing , a song composed by Eastside's own Mr. Tavolocci. Joy Zeigler was chosen Miss Eastside and Kathy Whitman was selected as alternate. They advanced to the DeKalb County Pageant coinciding with fair week. The DeKalb County Pageant was a fun and exciting time for the girls. They participated in many events, such as the bathing suit competition, dinner and interviews with the judges, the parade, and finally, the evening gown and talent competition held Thursday night. Kathy Whitman received the special Judges Choice award, and then the title of Miss DeKalb County was bestowed upon Joy Zeigler! She will go to the State Fair this summer to compete for the Miss Indiana State Fair title. Margaret McCollough 30 Tammy Warstler
