ClassySOU Sweeter Pa ween saeee Our Way OUR WAY And now the end is near, and so we face the final cur- tain, Dear friends, we'll say it clear, We'll state our case, of which we're certain, We've planned each chartered course, each careful step along the by-way, And more, much more than this, We did it Our Way We've loved, We've Laughed and cried, We've had our fill, our share of losing, And now, as tears subside, we find it all so amusing, To think we did all that, and may we say, Not in a shy way. Oh, no, oh, no, not us, We did it Our Way. For what is a class, what have we got, if not ourselves, then we have not To say the things we truly feel, and not the words of those who kneel, The record shows we took the blows, and did it Our Way. During their stay they lived with middle-class Mexican families, and thus had the opportunity to learn Spanish first hand. The morn- ings were spent attending school, while afternoons and evenings could be en- joyed in a number of ways. Before re- turning home, Debbie and Janelle spent three days in Mexico City, which might be considered one of the highlights of the summer. During those three days they were constantly on the go , visit- ing government buildings, cathedrals, museums, the pyramids, the Univer - sity of Mexico, the Olympic Stadium, and a bull fight. They also managed to do some shopping at the famous San Juan markets and take in the beautiful Folklore Ballet. The trip was financed by the Spanish Club and donations from interested members of the communities. It is considered to be one of the most worthwhile projects sponsored by an Eastside Club. Around the columns were found green vines which created a pleasing contrast to the remaining decor. Large Roman vases filled with brightly colored flowers graced the tables. We all should be excited and proud of our new school, but we should not fail to forget the good times we had in the old. Surely it will be fun to have the improved facilities, but the fun of working together will be no greater than it has been in this old school . ’ I would like to thank the staff for their help and cooperation, especially Dara, Nancy, Sherri, Sharon and Dinah, who gave up their study halls to work, and to Gerald Murphy, for his fine art- work. Mrs. Hood and Mr. Williams also deserve a big thanks for all of their gui- dance and help. Last, I cannot forget the two important groups that made the 1971 Easterner become a reality--the sub- scribers and advertisers. Thank You! area Raub Karen Laub, Editor 136
