EASTERNER EDITED BY EASTSIDE ANNUAL STAFF EASTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL BUTLER, INDIANA VOLUME 6 LASTING MEMORIES The school year of '68-'69 is over. We may never relive any part of it again. Time goes on and nothing remains the same. What we gain from this year will always remain with us. The knowledge we acquired can never be taken away from us by anybody no matter how strong or powerful. All that we have left is mem- ories that will stay with us throughout our lives. The '68-'69 school year leaves us with many pleasant memories. School pro- vides us with both an academic life and a social life both equally important. We now look back on that great game, or that special guy or girl and feel glad that we were a part of this year. Every student played his or her very special part and important role this year that made it what it was. The Annual Staff has chosen Lasting Memories as its theme. The Easterner has attempted to provide the students with an account of the year's important events and school life in general. It is our hope that this annual provides you with a means of remembering the cherished happenings of the school year of 2 '68-'69. Each summer the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a govern- mental program for boys and girls going into their senior year. The program consists of a very worthwhile week spent in the study of the state government. Delegates from all over the state actually run their own state government. They are divided into two political parties and then organize precincts, cities, and counties which they run the entire week. Highlights of the week consist of many varied and interesting assemblies and speakers , along with the campaigns, caucuses, and elections. Officials are elected from gov- ernor of the state, to county and city officials, and each delegate has a chance to run for an office. The week is a marvelous experience for all who attend and each representative returns home with new friends and a new understanding of the way our government is run. 56 GRADUATION HIGHLIGHTS 57 Beauty and the Beast Look at my new P.J.'s. It is impossible to realize the amount of effort that goes into a book, until one takes part in a yearbook’s production. The members of the 1969 Easterner Staff all tried to help in any way they could. Without them, this book would never have become a real ity. I want to thank Vickie Sherer for the many hours she worked as Business Man- ager. Vickie took care of the advertising and all of the financial aspects of the book. I would also like to thank Mr. Alfred Sherer our advisor, and Mr. Robert Wil- liams our principal. Mr. Sherer was always willing to give advice and listen to a new idea. Mr. Williams was quite lenient in scheduling picture taking sessions. The purpose of the 1969 Easterner was to provide you with an account of the 1968-69 school year. If this book brings back many Lasting Memories it can be considered a success. 130 KOOKY CANDIDS Fingers Hart Eastside's Tun- nel of Love Bonny studying hard??
