The boys played six man football for the first time, and the girls tried their luck at basketball. Both of these new sports were enjoyed by the students and they are planning to continue playing them next year. ' Our boys and girls played huthe following tourna- ments thls year: Buchanan County, Stewartsville and Clarksdale. The boys played football with the fol- lowing schools: Pickett, Edgerton, Rosendale, Stew- artsville, and Mound City. The grade school boys playedin their first tmnna- ment at Faucett, and captured a second prize trophy. They were coached by Donald Brown and B111 Parson. N CARNIVAL A carnival was held on November 2 and November 5 at the Easton Public School. It was well attended and the school earned some much needed money for its athletic equipment. A program was presented each night and each class tried to out do the others h1elect1ng their king and queen. The final vote placed the senior class as victors with the honor going to Helen Wertin and Junior Pfleiderer. The other candidates, Anna Kerns and Buddy George, Melvin Underwood and Mary Keith, Dorothy Jackson and Robert Burton were attendants to the King and Queen in a Coronation Ceremony. Saralyn Pike and Jerry Kerns were crown bearers. A merry crowd, many concessions, lunch, and a mysterious fortune teller mixed with the noise of horns blowing and confetti throwing made two most enjoyable evenings.
