PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS i t E'-I As the Senior Class of 1948 is about to leave Eas- 1 ,4 ..!'T. ton High School, I would like to review the various 3?- yhkg'-' activities of this class during the past four years .p1,,1 which will always live in our memory. 5 When we entered school as freshmen in the fall of 's ix 1944, we entered into an entirely different environment. 45, We were amazed by the poise and dignity of the seniors. QA' s f We did not do much in the way of social life this year ' ' but the seasons passed by and soon we were through as v-f freshmen. Q f 5. When we entered school next year as sophomores we H' were less in number. This year passed as fast as the fl ' firstg we had a few socials and dances but most of the gg ' E year we all studied very hard. , ,lf lf- The Junior year we began to show our talent. At f . our annual winter inter-mural carnival our class I 7 , xy , -QA received more points than any other class. This same I f Q- year Irene Fuller, one of the first place winners of ,Q-1, our Junior Exhibition, won the Spear Speaking Contest 5 1 held at Presque Isle. This entitled her to participate . in the state speaking contest held in Augusta where she nag. won second prize in the contest. jr-'1 , - When we started school in the fall of 1947 we f l- . - realized we were starting our last year as students of fffwe' Easton High School. We wanted to make this year a year L1p,,3': jjffbi that we all would remember. With the help of Mr. Stinchfield, our principal, we presented Hobgoblin XX House a mystery play in three acts. This play was a ,Q great success, being the first Senior Play for Easton Sig ? 1 y High School in three years. We followed this up by ' ' electing a year book staff who with the help of Mr. Oz, Vose, plan to publish the' Eastonia the first yearbook -' of this school for sixteen years. M To raise funds to pay for graduation expenses the class sold refreshments at the basketball games and sponsored two suppers for the L1on's Club. We plan to have a graduation ball as part of the commencement ' m I an - X 4.5 exercises in June and with our surplus treasury we in- iffljl tend to go on a class trip. '!Xxgz,,.75', . I who didn't mean to listen to their conversation but could concentrate on a funny book with all that noise ringing in your ears? Anyway I couldn't. Now if you promise not to think I'm an eavesdropper I'll tell you what I heard. Well, ya see, these two girls, Marie Smith was one and Chrystal Ambrose was the other, were talking about some of the most exciting experiences they ever had. Chrystal, well she's really done a lot of traveling and I imagine she really has encountered some pretty exciting things, but just listen to this. I heard her say to Marie. nMarie,n and I quote, 'I had the most horrible experience last night I have ever had in all my' life. And you know I have had some pretty awful experiences. Why, last summer, I was near- ly swallowed by a lion in South Africa, a big ten foot reptile bit me and I nearly lost my hand, once I was almost eaten by cannibals, but none of these experiences CONPHPG with the one I had last night. Honestly, Maria I thought I'd die. I was sitting on my bed last night reading a book and minding my own business when I was so scared I just sat there screaming until mother came up and scared that mouse away. Oh, Marie, it was ghastlyln That was all I could stand! Now I'm asking ya, fellers ain't that just like a girl?
