Mendez Returns! Student teacher, Miss Ligget, and Mr. Morris look over Mr. Mer1dez's shoul der as he glances through one of the elementary music books. Rafael Mendez, world-famous trumpeter, returned to Eastmoor for the third time on january 5th and 6th. He was such a success that he presented an additional concert on january 7th. Making Beautiful Mu ic Row one: linda Huggins, Julia Walls, Caryl Martindale, Mary Jane Eyster, Janet Dennison, Pat Wood, Dolores Huffman, Sharon Pierce, Gerry Webster, Janice Moltenberry, Cheryl Mclnturf, Gail Francis, Konnie Kirkman, Bonnie Venook, Karen Foreman, janet Stout, Elaine Cook, Judy Pilzer, Sarah Welch, Karel Kreiselman Row two: Darlene Barr, joan Miller, Mary Beth Morris, Judi Moncrief, Judy Kuchler, Sue Armour, Marsha Frager, Mary Ellen Strohbach, Helen Schultz, Bobbie Shaw, Fran Bruner, Betty Becker, Virginia Marsh, Pam Smyser, Connie Wilson, Carolee Peterson, Pam Penington, Deanna Brown Eastmoor's Senior Choir was very active this year. On December 3 the choir joined with the band in presenting the annual pop concert. Featured was the finale, The Voice of Freedom,', which was sung by over 200 voices and accompanied by the band. Many members of the vocal department entered in the solo and ensemble contests in the spring. A few of the choiris other activities this year include Kinder Key caroling, presentations for P.T.A. meetings, performances during school assemblies, and participation in the Christmas choral festival at Central High School. Bob Lewis, Fred Schnitzspahn, Ronnie Steelman, John Rose- mond, and Roy Arnett, Sergeant-at-arms, 2nd row. The council, with Mr. Kaye as the advisor, decides the I I4 policies of the band.
