NATIONAL HONOR SDCIE TY z if 7 Q Thirty-five members of the senior class were honored when they were tapped for membership in the Eastmoor Chapter of the National Honor Society at the National Honor Society Assem- bly on March 20. Each Eastmoor senior who had a cumulative scholastic average for his first seven semesters of 3.2 was a candidate for member- ship. In addition to attaining high scholarship, each prospective member had to qualify equally well on the basis of constructive leadership, worthy character, and purposeful service to Eastmoor. Three of the 1962 members, Barry Hilton, Steve Stellman, and Ann Whetstone, were also finalists in the National Merit National Honor Society Scholarship Tests. Sue Fahrion was elected to membership in the National Honor Society while a junior at Helena Senior High School, Helena, Montana. She continued as a fully qualified member here at Eastmoor. The Quill and Scroll Society Quill and Scroll is the International Honorary Society for High School journalists. Membership is a distinct honor and is reserved for those outstanding publications staff members who meet the basic requirements established by the Society and its Local Chapters. Candidates for Quill and Scroll mem- bership must have demonstrated fully to the satisfaction of their staff advisor, the board of publications, or the school principal that they merit the award through high scholar- ship, journalistic achievement and service. They must be ap- proved by the Executive Secretary of the Society. Membership in Quill and Scroll at Eastmoor is based on outstanding work done on the staff of THE SHIELD, the Eastmoor yearbook, on the WARRIORS' SPEAR-IT column in the community newspaper, on the EASTMOOR CHAR- IOT our occasionally-published school paper' or on the LANCE our school magazine The basic requirement for membership is a seven semester accumulative scholastic erage in the upper third of the senior class Eastmoor members of Quill and Scroll for 1962 were named at the annual recognition assembly in May A special award for outstanding service was made to Mike Kohar staff artist for 1960 62 LOIS BOESCH JANET GRAY BOB LEWIS A .
