Ry Poole and Jennifer Douthit became finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competi- tion. Judy Sterling and Linda Davis, class of '59, are members of the Fresh- man Honors Seminar for the win- Margrit Bauer was named the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow after completing a 50-minute written examination. A four-point average fall A's2 was achieved by these people during the first se- mester. They are, First row: Richard England, Steve Stellman, Barry Hilton, Bob Lerner, Rick Brown, Dan Fleming, Second row: Sandy Maxwell, Ann Goldthwaite, Suzanne Wolfe, Jennifer Douthit, Janet Gray, Connie Rau, Dixie Ewing, Georgette Goldberg, Anita Topson, Virginia Schott. 80 Our representatives to Buckeye Girls' and Buckeye Boys' State were Barbara Molten- berry and John Braulick.

ter and spring quarters at Ohio State this year. Sixty were selected out of a Freshman Class of 5010. STUDE TS Barry Hilton placed first in the state in the 1959 Ohio District-State Scholar- ship Tests in first year algebra. l i Mari Werlin and Elaine Avren received certificates and pins for placing in the Ameri- can Legion essay contest sponsored by Bexley Post. Their essays were then entered in the state contest. Eileen Collins and Sidney Townsend took college level courses at Ohio State Uni- versity during summer quarter and earned A's in them. Eileen has also won the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. Seniors who placed in the top five percent of the Ohio General Scholarship Test are John Thomas, Eileen Collins and Ry Poole in the first row, Those placing in the top ten percent are Barry Friedman, Bill Gillam, Dave Frederick, Cynthia Husted, Frank Hoffman, Rachel Egbert, Jennifer Douthit, Penny Wainer, Roy Kollmer, and Don Allison in the second row. 8l
