SENIOR CLASS OFFICER Neva Lowe, secretary, Homer McKnight, treasurer, Joy Henry, vice-president, and John Braulick, president. The graduating class of 1960 has been a class of many firsts. In 1956, when we were freshmen, Eastmoor had its first football team and first homecoming celebration. That same year the first edition of the SHIELD was pub- lished. We helped to establish many traditions such as Rainbow Day which is held in early spring. King and Queen of Hearts were elected for the first time while we were iuniors. In our senior year we received the new style in class rings, and we were the first class to be honored with senior privileges. Another first was established in the fall of our senior year when our football team won the City L e a g u e Championship iust after our new stadium had been dedicated. Our class of 238 members boasts many different origins. Students came to Eastmoor from places ranging all the way from Germany and Belgium to Japan and the Philippine Islands. Local iunior highs such as Roosevelt, Franklin, and Crestview contributed their wealth to this class. Individuals have brought honor both to our class and to our school. Eileen Collins and Sidney Townsend took advanced classes at OSU during the summer quarter. Eileen received the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award and Sidney has done outstanding work in music. John Ryder Poole and Jennifer Douthit brought scholastic recogni- tion to Eastmoor by becoming finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Ry also placed with two other seniors, John Thomas and Eileen Collins in the top five per cent of the Ohio General Scholarship Test. Barbara Moltenberry and John Braulick represented Eastmoor at Buckeye Girls' and Boys' States. Margrit Bauer was chosen as Eastmoor's Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. Cynthia Husted was runner-up in the Citizen's Ford Motor Company Journalism Contest. Ray Bland, Richard Wilson, and Ronald Wollett made the All-City Football team. These are iust a few of our contributions toward making Eastmoor an outstanding school. The aspirations ofthe i960 class members are high. Most of the graduates plan to enter college. Nursing and branches of the service are popular career choices. ln our midst we have potential scientists, doctors, teachers, lawyers, engineers, entertainers, and business executives. The last four years have been memorable ones that we won't easily forget. We all hope that the honor we receive and the zenith we achieve, reflect their glory back to Eastmoor High. 46
