TE S OOR in many sports activities such as volleyball, tennis, baseball, and golf. Home economics offers a broad program for girls interested in home management, cooking, clothing, and child care. The program of the industrial arts includes a wide variety of courses. Drafting is a course which many of the prospective en- gineers take. The products of the metal and wood shops can be seen on display in their showcase. Many different articles are made by the boys taking these subiects. They range from metal plates to coffee tables and wood cabinets. Swofford, Sam Smart, and Paul Wright. W Mk- Dave Kautz, Gary Rutledge, and Charles Jones know that exactness is necessary in drafting. In clothing class Annette Whittaker shows Becky Smith how to press carefully. The girls also study units in foods, child care, home management, home nursing, interior decorating and consumer education. Now can you see the difference between a quarter and a whole note? Sharon Hemmer and Barbara Smart are asked by Mr. Morris during a music theory class. Lee Leonard, Carolyn Miendal, Sandra Hysal, Walt Wilke, and Patty Prisk all agree that art not only develops talent but also is a lot of fun. Claudette Corbett, a member of the Radio Speech class, rehearses for a pro- gram. lI8 The classes represented on these pages are elective, and offer the student opportunities to further both talents and interests. Music and art are included in a complete program of fine arts. Many vocal and instru- mental ensembles, choirs, and music theory classes are available in the music department. The art classes furnish posters and decorations for school activities and interesting showcases. Radio speech classes present the News and Notes program each week and also serve as announcers on the WCBE CBoard of Education! radio station.
