PROCESS GF LE NIN Linda Hubbard and Rick Brown consider the mysteries of diagramming a sentence in English class. The scenes of faraway Spain and Peru find a reflection in the eyes of Claudia Davis, Bob Blanton, and Terrie Trager as they take a test in Spanish class. Listening to a tape of a Hitler speech which isn't quite Current History are Pat Winslow, Jay Perler, Mike Gleim, and Margaret Tracy. llb About two-thirds of the subjects offered in the Columbus Public High Schools are required. These required 'subjects are designed to further a person's general education and to develop good citizenship in him. For the remainder of his courses each student can elect a program according to his individual need for furthering his career plans for the future. To help the students decide what these plans will be, a series of career conferences are held throughout the year. Meetings with representatives of different fields-from accounting to Zoology-are held. Lee Leonard, Carolyn Miendal, Sandra Hysal, Walt Wilke, and Patty Prisk all agree that art not only develops talent but also is a lot of fun. Claudette Corbett, a member of the Radio Speech class, rehearses for a pro- gram. lI8 The classes represented on these pages are elective, and offer the student opportunities to further both talents and interests. Music and art are included in a complete program of fine arts. Many vocal and instru- mental ensembles, choirs, and music theory classes are available in the music department. The art classes furnish posters and decorations for school activities and interesting showcases. Radio speech classes present the News and Notes program each week and also serve as announcers on the WCBE CBoard of Education! radio station.
