TO THE STUDENTS OF EASTMONT Another wonderful and successful year is almost com- pleted. Soon our thoughts will turn from studies to va- cations, and we will drift to the four winds. The students of Eastmont can be proud of the many outstanding accom- plishments attained in such a short period of time, in that our first graduating class was in 1958. A quick look at a few of your achievements: in 1958 one of your students was awarded a four year scholarship by West Coast Airlines fthis scholarship was equivalent to the National Merit Schol- arshipjg in 1960-61 you won more first and second place awards in the Spokane Inland Empire Science Fair than any school in the Pacific Northwest has ever Wong in 1962, you were proclaimed state champions in football, a.nd through your FFA you won the State Championship Speaker's Con- test sponsored by the Washington State Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. A 1963 graduate won one of the highest scholarships in the country, the National Merit Scholarship. These are but a few of the things you can be proud of and cherish as the years go by. How did all these accomplishments happen in such a short time? First of all, I believe, it is because of you, the in- dividual student of Eastmontg second, because of your par- ents and the high ideals they have established for youg and last but certainly not least, because of your dedicated and down-to-earth staff whose main interest is your success and happiness while attending Eastmont High. With these three teams working together, we have harmony, cooper- ation, and outstanding success. In the four years I have had the pleasure of being admin- istrative head of our senior high school, I have never work- ed with a finer student body. In an atmosphere of cooper- ation, cheerfulness, good school spirit, and sportsman- ship, your ideals have been held high and we have a student body of which we can all be proud. Our problems at East- mont are few and far between and are so greatly over- shadowed by your outstanding deeds that it makes each year more pleasant than the last. To those who are graduating this year and those who have graduated before you, may I wish each of you happiness and success. This is your second home and we hope you will find time to come back often. You, the underclassmen, must carry on the traditions of classes before you and in every way attempt to do a better job. My most hearty congratulations to each of you. Thanks for the opportunity of being a part of Eastmont these past few years. Sincerely, Lynn W. Easton, Principal PEAKS MR.
