The necrologies of the former have been hard to trace, but the quiddities of the latter are obvious. The solid reasons for starting out as musicians remain, in most cases, fairly constant, but the additional weight of avocations has, on others, proved rather taxing. Of these extra-aesthetic occupations the outstand- ing are: amphibology, ossifrage, narco- lepsy, and oenology. Some retain their vocations with surprising tenacity, others cling to a fifty-fifty proposition, the bal- ance still hide their Tahitian qualities well under the bushel. i Lack of knowledge gave us amusing con- tours at the outset. Experience has rounded out the lines, and individual adjustments have been precisely to the degree of the nepenthe an or seditious tendencies.- As an organization, we have sponsored a number of projects, not with the finan- cial success sufficient to create active re- sentment in the breasts of our fellowmen. As further proof of our pacifism, we have supplemented our unintentional generosity with one outstanding Welfare measure: The Big Sister Movement, which we picked up from other American educa- tional centers. It has survived two years, which proves that we are not indecently differentiin regard to those selfless urges innate in all true artists. Our spontaneous affection and democratic sincerity found a medium of expression in the production of a pictorial SCORE, revolutionary in its treatment. We expect to place a copy in refrigeration for the obloquy of coming journalists. The future should be of fine calibre, not only because the amplification of our merits could not be otherwise, but because of signs which our name bears in itself: 1939.
