Physical Education The Physical Education Program at Eastern Wayne High offers many different activities. lln the fall, students participate in team hand- ball, football, and volleyball. During the win- ter months, they play basketball, and badmitton. In spring, tennis, softball, and track are offered. The Advanced Physical Education course consists of aerobics, weight training, and run- ning. A physical fitness test is also adminis- tered. Conditioning and drills are geared to- wards the individual sport. The coaches in the physical education department are Bill Garner, Bill Geiman, Bobby Wolfe, and Gerald Wisenhunt. 5 vi? ,. M ,. Special Education Mary Sue Fannin - Aide, Nancy Dawson and james Bennett - Instructors. Eastern Wayne Teachers Make Their Mark. The principal ofEastern Wayne is H. Donold jones. Ile is supervisor ofstaflvand instructional programs. Other responsibilities include public relations, discipline, transportation, parental conferences, and building and grounds. Mr. jones stated, HPersonally, I like to concentrate on being sure every statl' member and student enjoys an educational environment that is pleasantfl Doug Davis and Carol Battle-Bell, the vice principals, help Mr. jones carry out his duties. Howard Austin is in charge ofln-School Suspension. The purpose ofjln-School Suspension is to punish the student tor wrong doings within the framework ofthe school so that the student can keep up with his academic work. The number of days a student spends with Mr. Austin depends on the seriousness ofthe otlcnse. The instructors for the Special Education ofExceptional Students are Mr. james Bennett and Mrs. Nancy Dawson. The Driverls Education instructors are Arlynn Ilines and Clenn Rogers. Mrs. Cloria Burney is the YVayne County Instructional Coordinator for Social Studies and Mrs. Patricia Hester is the VVayne County Instructional Coordinator lor Communication Skills. They are coordinators for ll schools in Wayne County. Mrs. Bumey and Mrs. Hester mzdce sure the curriculum is uniform across the county, secure materials, and give advice on teaching methods. The Cuidance Counselors, jerri Lane, Ellen VVest, and janet Hooks, help the students ot Eastern WVayne with schedule changes and personal problems. They also give interested students college inhirination. Edna Parks, Mildred Worrell, and Diane Mitchell are the secretaries of Eastern Wayne. They answer phones, attend to bookkeeping, the payroll, and regular ollice duties. The librarians at Eastern NVayne are Elizabeth jones, Charolotte Darwin, and janie NVoodard serves as Aide.
