The Math Classes Calculate Their Mark. In an effort to improve the mathematical skills of students, Eastern Wayne High School offers math courses such as General Math, Consumer Math, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Accelerated Algebra II, Advanced Math, Calculus AP, and Computers I and II. The instructors of these classes are Mr. Ed Ezzell, Mrs. Sheila McCullen, Mr. Johnny Merritt, Mrs. judy Wooters, Coach Bobby Wolfe, Coach Wayne Broadhead, Coach Gerald Whisenhunt, Coach Nancy Dawson, Coach james Bennett, and Ms. Della Lloyd. The Math Department has a Math Team which travelled to Atlantic Christian College, Wayne Community College, and East Carolina University for competition. The Math Department, as a whole, strives to improve the overall mathematic curriculum for the students who will be tomorrow,s leaders. uWhat do you wantfpu .aa ' Why is math so confusing? Studying is a must to participate on the Math Team. Computer use, another part of toinorrow's future, is observed in Eastern NVayne's Math Dtxl7i1l'tIllt'Ilt. The teachers in the Science Department are Mrs. Sally Simpson, Mrs. Sue Walmsley, Mr. Balph Smith, Mrs. Sandra lit-ll. and Mrs. Barhara Stroud. Stephen Anderson, Scott Riggs, and Trudi Brunclege are definitely made scit n tistsl The Science Classes Prove Their Mark. The Science classes made their mark throughout the year with lahs, speakers, and a lot of hard work. The classes otlered at Eastern VVayne this year were Biology A and B, Chemistry A, Physics, Advanced Biology AP, Botany, Marine Biology, Astronomy, Ceology, and Applications of Physical Sciences. The teachers are Mrs. Sandra Bell, Mrs. Sally Simp- son, Mr. Ralph Smith, Mrs. Barbara Stroud, Mrs. Sue Walmsley, and Coach Nancy Dawson. Most students in the science classes participated in the school Science Fair which was held in the spring. The winners then advanced to compete in the Regionals at Creenyille. This year, tor the first time, the Science Fair was held at the State level. Eastern XVayne students participated. All in all, through hard work on the part of both students and teachers, Eastern NVayne has a lot to he proud of in its Sci- ence Department.
