membership. The AFS worked hard to promote goodwill and continues to ex- tend its objectives Within the school and community. History Club I The Social Studies Department at Eastern Wayne High had al- ways wanted to establish a History Club. And, since 1987 was the 200th birthday ofthe signing ofthe Constitution, the department realized that it was a perfect time. Though by laws for the Club were not developed, the purpose ofthe Club was determined ATO learn more about America and the Worldf' The sponsors ofthe History Club were Mrs. Cloria Burney and Miss Amelia Dees. The other social studies teachers served as advisors. The Club had eight-one members and met every fourth NVednesday of the month. Definite activities for the year were not determined at the print- ing ofthe yearbook, however, speakers and field trips were possi- bilities. Student Council During the 1986-87 school year, the Eastern VVayne Senior High Student Council perhirmed many activities directed toward promoting better human relations. These activities included service projects for area schools and the needy in the community. A profitable fundraiser for the Council was selling Christmas wrapping paper. Funds raised from this endeaver were used to finance the Councils activities. An activity shared by area schools was hosting an Inter-School Council composed of six students from the four XVayne County High Schools, Wayne Country Day, and Coldsboro Iligh School. The Council strived to promote better relations among the schools. Eastern NVayne served as host in October. To be a member of the Student Council one must be elected, attend all meetings, and support all council activities. This years officers included President - Robin Coor, Vice President - David Taylor, and Secretary Treasurer - Dianna Downs. The advisor was Mrs. Lucy Warren. - I I - C.-I' .,..Q., ..,, Z.-W..
