Colf Is Challenging - But Funl The members ofthe 1986 Eastern Wayne Colf Team included seniors Scott Brady, Kent Denton, Richard Kimble, john Daniels, and jeff Meade, sophomore Paul Silerg and fresh- man 'TDM Comer. The Warrior Colfers ended the season with fourteen wins and one loss and had a conference record of7-0. A hard-working team effort, led by Coach Ed Ezzell, produced third place in the sectionals at Rock Creek in jacksonville, with a miss of one stroke for the StateTournament. PaulSilercommented . .NVe had a super team and a lot ofaccomplishments, but it was a disappointment not going to the State Tournament. Coach Ed Ezzell also said . . Iwas very disappointed because ofhaving so many seniors and felt they had a chance to win sectionals and do well in the State. It was a big let down . . . but a great teamf, Outstanding players for the season were Richard Kimble, Scott Brady, Kent Denton, and Paul Siler. Returning players for the 1987 season will be Paul Siler and 'ADM Comer. .41 ii - I p . ,,,.,,,, si, 5 I it rr 'H '-W.. isi, - A xr: I 4, . - r if Y 5 syyl ,U 1 wa 'H' 7 Q' J The training for the 1987 Warrior golfseason wasn't too involved. The members were ex- pected to play when they could throughout the year. Official practice began on February 1 at Walnut Creek Country Club from 4:00-6:00 everyday. As for training, Coach Ezzell said Theres no special preparation, just individual practice. U Paul Siler and D Comer helped the team with their great playing techniques, and there was a battle between freshman Brian Mull and junior Paul Siler for the first starter for the sea- son. The 1987 season consisted of twelve matches with seven conference matches. The matches were held on Mondays and Thursdays. The experience of Coach Ezzell and the team efhmrt of the WVarrior Golfers should enable the Warrior Team to putt by many of their opponents and become a strong contender for the 1987 Conference Championship.
