Iunior Varsity Cheerleaders Promote Spirit, a Positive Image, and a Winning Attitude. A Bullock N Fdwards L. Greene, K. Haley, K. Harper, M. johnson, D. I.:-nlnn. M. Long, A. Sheets. C Spadfora B VanBethysen. Wilson The Eastern Wayne junior Varsity Cheerleaders promote spirit, a positive image, and a winning atti- tude. Under the guidance of Mrs. Sandra Bell, the girls worked hard to reach their full potential. They attended a cheerleading camp at Camp- bell University during july, and received several blue ribbons for their perfor- mances of cheers, pyramids, and chants. Co-captained 'by Suzanne Wilson and Kim Harper the girls had a very successful year. They placed third in the Wayne County Agriculture Fair's Annual Cheerleading Competition held in Uctober, 1986. To help the purchase uniforms, the girls sold gummi bears and gummi worms. They also raised money for the cheerleading fund by selling football programs at the Varsity Foot- ball games. To boost confidence the girls cheered at home juniors Varsity Football games and at Homecoming. They also participated in the organizing of school pep rallies, j.V. Cheerleaders f 113

Lynn, this is volleyball, not cheerleadinglu Dia Hamilton exhibits the grace used in serving. Leigh Wilcox makes a valiant attempt to keep the ball in play. 114 1 Volleyball I E95 1, we Volleyball Spikes We have a new edition to the Eastern Wayne ros- ter of sport teams - Cirlis Volleyball! The team is coached by Coach Bill Cei- man, He worked the girls hard and ended the season with five wins and eight losses. Coach Ceiman felt that the Warrior Team played its best the last two weeks of the season. He commented, I wish we could play everybody one more time. The season started out with learning the funda- mentals required to play the game. Coach Geiman taught the girls the abumpv, over-hand passv for setj, how to udinkn, block, and serve. The offense run for the season was a 4-2 offense with four at- tackers and two setters. The Warriors did a lot of running and jumping drills which also prepared them for their upcoming opponents. The team did well for its first year. The mem- bers were Lisa Bauman, Barb Bond, Whitney Ed- wards, Dia Hamilton, Karen Ieffcoat, Amy Price, Michelle Reed, Lynn Seymour, joey Smith, Kati Sepponen, Michelle Spiron, and Leigh Wilcox. The outstanding play- ers for the season were Barb Bond, Leigh Wilcox, and Amy Price. Barb felt that the team had a lot of talent, and for its first year, played well. The girls played great and with many returning players such as Lisa Bau- man, Whitney Edwards, Karen Ieffcoat, Michelle
