Shadows As shadows fall over the campus students study and relax in their world of beads and buckskin. Books are gathered up and taken to the library for concentration. As the shadows deepen and the head becomes weary, students refresh with a coke at the Isleland, then return to their dorms for a couple more hours of hitting the books. It is all part of the ever present shadow of democracy. A.. Sacajawea is honored as Eastern's official hostess and her name is given to a senior Woman each year. Graduating students pay homage to Sac-ajawea at pre- commencement, by passing her arrow. The arroW's shaft is touched to the forehead of each senior, after which the arrow is given to the incoming student body president for the next year. Homecoming first began in 1924 and each year's activities and alumni have increased in number and grandeur. It is one of the high- lights of the school. year. Wishing Rock re- quires that you make a reasonable Wish during a full moon, kiss the rock and your Wish will be granted. Hello Walk is a means of instilling friendship among students by requiring those who meet on the walk, to say hello, All are traditions. The stone pillars which border the sidewalk to Showalter Hall are the gateway to Eastern XVashington College. Students and alumni built the structure in 1915. v:-f pn: r-. -1 v',..s'fr'gj.- .1 ,f vw-M1 B ' U' '4 1.1 f -,'. V pfrfsfki 655:11 rv . ' ., -. ar f 0' 0 ' 'J -.Q ta :.., .,, ,gg .
