His was a personality that will not disappear with his pass- ing. Though his life was comparatively short he had gained many of the highest honors that his field of study could afford him. His articles have appeared in many leading historical journals. He was head of the History and Social Science department, one of the larg- est in the school, and was recognized by his fellow scholars as an authority on the post Civil War period. The feelings of all who bereaved his passing were amply expressed in the phraseology of President Ralph E. Tieie, who said: Mr. Cobb was a valuable member of the faculty. His loss was an unfortunate one for the institution.
