Patient care, learning, research, and a coherent regional health care and educational system that reflect the talent and resources needed to provide quality services. The intertwined loops also represent the many individual communities of Eastern Virgin- ia which, working together, can achieve a degree of health care that none of them alone can attain. Finally, the symbol emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts among health care professionals and institutions — the Medical School, the Eastern Virginia Medical Authority, hospitals, colleges, and | universities — if quality health care is to be achieved in Eastern Virginia.
