As you continue your program of life-long learning, it is my sincere hope that the basic education and the start that you have received at the Eastern Virginia Medical School will stand you in good stead and provide you with the basics to allow you to continue to grow into the field of medicine. You will learn, as have all of your predecessors, that medicine is a dynamic profession and the half-life of your knowledge will be measured in several years rather than several decades. It will require continued hard work and study on your part to maintain your current level of knowledge. You do have the opportunity to enter into an exciting and dynamic world in which you will be looked upon as a contributor and thus your role will be significant. You should take the opportunity to make the greatest possible impact in your chosen field. We, the members of the faculty and the administration at the Eastern Virginia Medical School are extremely proud of each of you. Please accept our congratulations for a job well done and wishes for an extremely bright future. ea , P.
