The first year of the Beacon has come to a very successful close. The time has been filled with trials and tribulations, which helped make every issue 1 bit better than the previous ones. The paper came into existence as an 'tnswer to student comment which was reflected by definite action by the student council in organizing the Beacon staff. To Lum Rhea editor and Miss Wilda Barker first faculty adviser, is due much credit for initiating the project. The first issue of the Eastern Oregon Normal School paper was published November 20, 1931. Since then the Beacon has been published every two weeks. Page 37
