Queen Annette Dollins and King Bill Jones reign ove THE 1959 MOUNTAINEER. 12 ln this golden anniversary edition of THE MOUNTAIN- EER, we pause to think back over the years past and seek to discover the key to golden memories. Our life at Eastem this year has been one full of many emotions, disappoint- ments, pride and ioy--through these experiences our lives have been enriched and we have been better prepared to ac- cept responsibility. We recall many things from our stay on campus, and in reminiscing about them we realize that here is the key--it is our love and appreciation for our college, its traditions, its departments, its people. That key will have a different meaning for each of us as each experience leaves a different impression. lt is the hope ofthe staff that as you turn through this book, you will make it the key to golden memories, ancl that the events of this year will be as alive in ten years as they were in l958-59. contents administration activities royalty athletics organizations personnel 1. As we look to the future, may we use our experiences ofthe past to strengthen our position and enhance the results of our labors. The world holds great opportunities for able, inquiring, and resource- ful minds. We are living in a day when we must allow nothing to prevent us from acquiring the best education possible. Needs are chang- ing, new methods are becoming known, and the degree of know-how required for success in almost every activity of man is reaching new and greater heights. Let us make the most of every opportunity--to get the best and the most from our educational endeavors, and to help promote a better educational opportunity for others. As we progress collectively, we progress individually. My best wishes for continued success in your educational en- deavors. if E. T. Dunlap President wg, .sw ,az WALTER M.
