Your i958 Silver Pack will serve as your book of memories. Time is fleeting. ln ten, or even five years, who will recall their days of the freshman beanie, the spring formal, or those happy hours in the SUB with their college companions? To keep fresh the memories of such events, to preserve the face of friends as they are today, to catch and hold o small part of life at Eastern in the year l958-this is the purpose of Staff BURRELL MARTIN, Editor WANDA GUYE, Business Manager MlLDRED BOWMAN, Art Work LINDA BADGETT DEAN FRIESEN TOM GROOM MAIDALYN MCGAHA PAT NELMS LOUISE SELLMAN SHERIDAN SIMONS JERRY WOOD the Silver Pack. Cibecbca fion IN honor of his devoted service to Eastern, through both external and internal public relations, the i958 Silver Pack is dedicated to A. Eugene Mann. He has contributed greatly to the growth and progressiveness that has become synonomous with ENMU. His close attention to student publications makes this dedication even more fitting. Built at a cost over S230,000, the new-ultra modern structure seats over 500 people. lt has been dubbed one of the finest theatres in the Southwest. The grand opening played before two overflowing crowds. The theatre features an unusual plasterdome cyclo- rama. In back of the proscenium arch, space is provided for scene construction and painting, dressing rooms, make-up, storage, and classrooms. Off the entrance foyer will be found offices of the director and staff, powdeil room, and light control board. The stage lighting isl similar to that found in the Dallas Municipal Theatre.l The attractively furnished foyer and aisles are carpeted. One of those singled out for the honor was Norma Lozier, sponsored by the CHASE and the SILVER PACK at Eastern. Following her selection, Miss Lozier, modeling the latest fall fashions, was photographed on the campus by a New York photographer. She also was awarded a trip to New York where she appeared in a style show sponsored by GLAMOU R. Reprinted from GLAMOUR, August l957, copyright CNP ne of .xgmericaii en Eff- L-Ezlrefifievl Coen! Pride - and justily so - in a team that marked into the history books the first undefeated varsity season in the history of the University. Nine opponents fell before the Hounds' mighty onslaught, while one was more than satisfied to settle for'a tie with the twelfth nationally ranked Pack. One hero would be difficult to single out-they were all tops in their own departments. Tip-top phy- sical condition paved the way for more than one victory. When you finish this article, and gaze upon the statistics, take a long look. They were a long time in the making. Previous Greyhound footballers were un- able to garner as much for posterity. Desire was one of the Hounds' greatest assets. When a team wins five out of nine games by one touchdown, it takes a great deal more than ability or luck. A team may get lucky and win a close game or have that little extra ability that pulls a game out of the fire, but when they win five in that manner, it is something else. That's the story-a bunch of little guys that when combined made something big-the unde- feated l957 Greyhound football team. f7Le IQWJ Eastern Eastern New Mexico Western Colorado State Colorado College Eastern Eastern Eastern Eastern Eastern Eastern Eastern Washburn University Omaha University Los Angeles State Austin College Adams State Southwest Oklahoma Eastern Colorado Western JACK ARMSTRONG Sophomore end JERRY BAILEY Senior end DEAN FAULKEN BERRY Freshman end PAUL JETTE Junior end RAY KINNISON Junior end JOH N NANCE Freshman end REECE WASHINGTON Freshman end BRUCE CH RONISTER Junior tackle CARL EFURD Junior tackle MACK HENN I NGTON Sophomore tackle SAM MAYO Junior tackle GERALD MOORE Senior tackle MAURICE HODGES l20l races for a long gain against Adams State, Jim McGraw l65D, Carl Efurd l7l7, and Ray Kinnison l8ll have opened the key hole.
