CLASS PROPHECY Late one night the entire graduating class of Elco High School went to see a lit- tle, shrivled-up, old, Gypsy fortune teller. Their purpose was to determine what they would be doing in the future, after their graduation. The large silent circle of students clustered around the stooped form of the old lady sitting in front of her tent. Before her was a brilliant crystal ball. She gazed intently into the ball for sev- eral seconds and then raised her head. She stared hard at the class for several sec- onds then her cracked lips parted and she spoke with the wisdom of the ages. I seef' she said in a high, shrill voice, c'Buzzard May as head dance instructor at the Dietrich Memorial Ballet School and live former soccer players named joel Mil- ler, Snap Zimmerman, Eric Ream, Harold Haag, and Harry Walmer attending class- es there. Five girls are still in charm school - Esther Salem, jackie Lutz, Bonnie Hippert, Sandy Shanaman, and Sue Eblingf, I see a barber shopfhair salon run by Lynn Ondrusek, jim Strobel, and Linda Rhoads. There are six customers inside named Steve Scipioni, jay Kegerreis, Kerry Batdorf, Donald Sands, Glenn Smith, and Lee Strausef' I hear a radio playing in the shop. I hear a big record sung by the Idle-Vise Sin- gers whose members are Mike Huber, Nancy Ziegler, Irene Long, and Anne Strick- er. I hear a hymn sung by a church choir next. The choir is directed by janie Yeag- ley with Carolyn Sonnon playing the piano. Two of the singers are Brenda XVhite and Karen Weikf, 'KI hear next on the radio a sports show. The sportscaster is Bill F orry, I hear that five former students were at a jockey Union banguet. They are Gery Foulk, Ralph Miller, Dennis Fertig, Bill Snoke and Paul Schae erf, I hear at Wimbleton, two former students face each other - Park Haverstick and Larry Straussf' I see the annual Olympics being held in Moscow. Several former students have gotten gold medals. Gary Miller is receiving one in pole vaulting, Sally Botz is re- ceiving one for swimming, and Charlie Weigley is receiving one for the 180 meter race. I see a baseball game. Three great players are playing. Ed Swisher, Monk Trout- man, and the pitcher, Tom Goodison. The president of the National League is talk- ing about Tom. - i'He,s a good pitcher when it comes to milk. I see the Inquirer track meet in Philadelphia. Four girl runners have just beat out all others and took the first four places in the womenis 100 meter. They were Sally Ressler, Sylvia Weaver, Karen Angstadt, and Lorraine Weidman. I see an American girls hockey team touring Europe. It's being managed by Car- ol Bucher. Two former Elco players are on the team - Yvonne Hoffman and janie Bucherfi I see jimmy Gibble has just won the PGA. Sandy Brightbill has just bowled a perfect game at Highway Lanes, Myerstownf, I see George jury, David Bucher, and Charlie Hibshman lining up their cars at the Indy 5007 HI see a demolishion derb . Four drivers have been battling for three hours. Rex Border, Howard Kramer, jeff Erhart, and Lyle Bashoref' I see a library. Three people are working there as librarians - jean Bucks, jean F rysinger, and Brenda Kurtz. I see several people studying dili ently in the library. They are john Shaeffer, Robert Walker, Danny Snyder, Bi Zerlde, and Larry Miller. Danny is still studying English for Mr. Painef, I see two partners in the shoe business. Ed Digiacomo is making them and Shell Zimmerman is selling themf, I see two brand new owners of Willow Lake - Nancy Layser and Theresa Herr. I see Tootie Morris and Ernie Gogets as bouncers there. I see Buzzy Levengood as the new auctioneer at Buffyis Auction and I see Louie Kreiser buying all the fine merchandise he can afford. I see Harry Light playing Santa Claus at an orphanage run by Donna Yoderf, I see a dairy owned by Dennis Mock with Ronald Risser and Carl Weaver as the two milkers and David Miller driving the milk truckf' I see Maynard Laudermilch working as a mechanic at Webber's Garage now being run by Clair Hessf, 57
