Smiles come easy after a 9-6 upset over Arlington Heights. The game gave the 4A-5 District Championship to the Highlanders. Staff Dedlcates '63 Clan to Football Team, Coaches Q Pre-season experts predicted that the Highlanders would be nestled firmly in fourth place after 4A-5 district play came to a close. Even Coach Mitcham said, One does not say so long to fifteen lettermen while greeting only one offensive starter and expect the telephone to remain silent after a Friday night gamefl The telephone didn't remain silent either. Calls of congratulations began- coming in after Eastern Hills defeated Ysleta 30-6 and posted a 15-O victory over Mineral Wells. Even though they lost their next two games, Eastern Hills had a spirited team which seemed undaunted by predictions and previous records. The Highlanders turned into a Cinderella team, finishing the district season with a 5-1 record and im- portant victories over Paschal, 8-7, and Arlington Heights, 9-6. Even though Paschal had an identical record, Eastern Hills won the right to represent the district by virtue of its victory over Paschal. For bringing Eastern Hills its first 4A-5 District Championship We, the 1965 Clan Staff, dedicate this annual to the fighting Highlander football team and coaches. With this championship Eastern Hills re- ceived glory, spirit, and high honors for which we are both proud and thankful. The dedication to our team and coaches shows only a small portion of the gratitude we have for receiving this championship after only three years of competition in 4A-5.
