BOYS' MARCH I NG BAN D - Jablei- --A-5:7 ' Lansing Eastern High School Marching Band is a title that is held in high esteem from the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes. During the football season, the band goes through the most active and tedious weeks of the music calendar. Last fall they put on well-organized half-time pageants at all of the home games and two of the out-of-town games. Outstanding among these was the dramatization of Feudin', Fussin', an' a-Fightin', which was given between halves of the Eastern-Sexton game. In this colorful presentation, the band went into many formations, including houses for the two rival fami- lies. While the band played the exceedingly brisk tune, the shooting began in earnest, ending with the death of grandmaw. Because of the group's superior showmanship on the field, the Detroit Lions invited them to be the featured band in the half-time activities of the Lions-Redskins football game on November 16, 1947. Aside from the athletic contests, the band marched in the following parades: Homecoming, Armistice Day, Old Newsboys. Army Day, and Christmas. i991 I Txigg
