Wheeler, a gentleman endowed wlth that zntellectual and never ceasing capab1l1ty of educatzng the minds of youthful men and women we humbly dedlcate the 1943 Lantern In h1s ofhce as ass1stant pr1nc1pal and Director of Ath letzcs he has never fazled to gam the confidence of all the persons who have worked wxth l'1m DON WHEELER Don Wheeler was graduated from Ypsllantl Hlgh School 1n 1918 Whlle ln hlgh school he played baseball and was quarterback of an undefeated football team He then attended Ypsllantl Normal gave prlvate V10llI'l lessons and belonged to Ph1 Delta P1 On bemg graduated from there he enrolled 1n the UIl1VefSlty of Mlchlgan but left there to become prm clpal of the hlgh school at Schoolcraft MlChlg3n He reentered the Um verslty and was graduated from the School of Educatlon ln june 1925 As the fall school term began he recelved a posltlon ln Walter French junlor Hlgh School and was Dlrector of Athletlcs there When Eastern opened ln 1928 he came here as a teacher 1n the Mathematxcs Department and contlnued hls work as Director of Athletlcs His summers are usually spent at h1s own boys camp at Lake Arbutus MlChlgan but thls summer he w1ll FCCCIVC hls Master of Arts degree from Mlchxgan State College In 1928 Don was married to Mlss Ollve Fast They now have two daughters and reslde at 360 Marshall Street East Lansmg
