Warfield, who, with her ability and kind under- standing, helped us to achieve our status as the Senior Class of Eastern York High School. Mrs. Warfield resides with her husband, Mr. Arthur E. Warfield, at I23 N. Fourth St., Wrightsville, Penna. Her hobbies include needle- point, reading, refinishing antiques, and the study of mathema- tics. Mrs. Warfield is now in her twenty-fifth year of teaching. She was salutatorian of her class at York High and an honor graduate of Ursinus College. She completed graduate work at Gettysburg College, Penn State University, and Elizabethtown College. Mrs. Warfield's ability to teach shows up in the fact that many of her pupils have obtained ,high positions and ratings since com- mencement. We are sure that her influence will remain at Eastern for many years to come. 15 A ,wi Q K QQ QXTNN fgwxlwxs M ' WF? Siifx QNXXX9 xx A Qgmx 0 x wx N N, fx, X .Xi t. I liazig, i Q I ,::: ., E , gy 'I ni ga THIS WAS THE CLASS THAT WAS . . Was what? Well, pretty scared, that's what! We're talking about our first day here at Eastern, naturally. Man, we had a blast that day. It all be- gan with a peaceful riot in the auditorium and had, as a grand finale, a race for the buses. You'd never believe the number of kids who missed their buses that day! We found that the year passed very quickly, however, and we soon heard ourselves laughing at the next class of deadbeats, the class of '68. The year proved to be quite interesting. We went on a trip to Washington in science class. It was the same science class in which we learned that birds and bees have something to do with human beings. We did learn how to make very good paper air- planes that year. One day, when the teacher stepped out of the room, we flew our projectiles, only to find that he was standing outside of the building watching us. He was very understanding about the whole matter, though. We had to write only l,0OO sentences. Ah! Our freshman year. Very exciting indeed! We sponsored the Hilltop Hootenannyf' jThat's a dance., We look back on civics class with tiring thoughts. Notes, notes, and more notes! That's the story of our learning about the United States gov- ernment. We got through that year after using 47 pencils, I9 erasers, and 266 M pages of notebook paper! And so, without further ado, onward to tenth grade we marched. We had a Roaring Twenties dance which proved to be quite fatal to our budget that year. It was a Flop. We also staged a cafeteria boycott. We made the newspapers not one, but two days in a row. We were finally coming up in the world! During our junior year we did something good for a change. We threw the greatest prom ever. We also got our classrings. The more romantically in- clined gave theirs to a friend as a token of their loyalty. Finally, we were seniors. No more worrying about getting to class on time, no more worrying about homework, in fact, no more worrying about anything. We were the first class to produce a Se- nior Class Play. We also drew up a driving peti- tion. It was rejected, but we beat our tenth grade record. We made the newspapers three days. We were overjoyed to learn that we would experience at least one more coloring class before our school days were over. We colored to the tune of a peck- ing typewriter. And now, we no longer look up to the teachers because we're so small, they look up to us. Be- cause you're so tall? you ask. Well, we'd rather think it's because we're so cool. You say that's conceit? We disagree. Conceit is a fault. We have no faults! GU-J'-JC-La-4-Of 'GT' Toodles, gang!! Our Class 116797 Big Five or Wee Five? EEK! A mouse! Look behind you! By that I mean there is much to do at a time when al- most everyone is competing for your talent and services. If you are prepared, as I trust you are, to meet this challenge in social science, science, and in- dustrial development, your goals will undoubtedly stretch far beyond one's imagination. However, try to remember that there are other people who need help too. Men who are longest remembered, and whose memories are most highly revered, are those who serve humanity. I wish to congratulate you upon attaining your graduation. Best wishes for your happiness and your continued success. Sincerely, Robert L. Adams Superintendent The Class of '67: Heartiest congratulations on your graduation from Eastern! Commencement Week should be a time of real sig- nificance to all of you. Commencement should not be an end to your education or training, but rather, as the meaning of the word implies, a beginning You are on the threshold of new, Q budding careers, rewarding years of re-study A at college, careers in business, industry or the farm, experiences in the Armed Forces, or rich, useful lives in whatever careers you . have planned. Truman J. Reese 40 Mrs. Dorothy Warfield Mr. Carl Myers Business Manager Mrs. Katherine Schafer 'Mrs. Nancy Staugh 41 Mrs. Louise Davis Let me say to everyone that is beginning life: Do not begin with exaggerated ideas of your own worth. Do not think that you, without battle, ought to be vic- tor, and walk from the beginning with those Iaurels about your head which are to be twined there, if at all, only at the end of the campaign. Do not flatter yourself that life owes you, any- more than it owes anybody else. It owes you, in common with all others, just as much as, climbing, you can bring down. It owes you a chance to be something. It will give you that, and nothing more. It is better for every man to begin with this understandings I have a chance to carve out my own way. This is all I want. Having that, I will take the consequences. To the Class of I967 Dorothy Warfield Culture is To know the best that has Fred Bailor Shippensburg S. C. B.S. The student teachers at Eastern High School were among those who will be graduated from Millersville State College in the summer of I967. The student teachers are sent to different schools to learn the funda- mentals of teaching. ln order to obtain these fundamentals they teach classes as well as observe experienced teachers. This year during the first semester, four student teach- ers were enriched by their experiences at Eastern. Miss Zelda Stroeman, a. future language teacher, was aided by the knowledge of Miss Dorcas Bortz. Miss Marguarite Baxter was carefully supervised by Mrs. Ann Scheetz as she learned the techniques of teach- ing English. Mr. Michael Hemak, a major in Social Studies, was well trained by Mr. David Townsend. g Mr. Joseph Brillhart, under the direction of Mr. Benja- min Walker, was helped on his way as a Social Studies teacher. We, the student body of Eastern High School, wish these four future teachers much success in their chosen fields. 53 Many of you may not be aware of all School Board Haw 7. R. Adams, C. Myers, M. A lot of work goes into earning a diploma. Your name on one indicates a measure of achievement of which you can feel proud. But a diploma is only a milestone-a mea- surement of what you have done. Now. . .how about doing something with it? For example, what are your plans for fur- thering your education? If that isn't possible, then how about looking for ajob with a company for whom you can work as beneficially as you worked for your diploma? Personal effort is the essence of success- the key to your progress. That precious piece of paper you receive graduation day can help you unlock a bright future-as bright as you strive to make it.
