3 1 W Dear Graduates, It is with great pride and joy that the administration and staff of Eastern High School extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your commencement. You have graduated from high school as the first class of the decade. In the one-hun- dred thirty-six years of its existence, you are the first coeducational class to be graduated from Eastern High School. You have come out of Plato 's symbolic cave and now must go forth and bring honor to Eastern 's Green and Gold. Graduates of Eastern have entered all walks of life. They have assumed their responsibilities to their families, their city, their nation and their world. What will you con- tribute to the betterment of our world? How will you bring honor to our Green and Gold? For some of you, your years of formal education are over, for others, you have just begun. The skills and knowledge you have learned here at Eastern are yours forever. To be rather than to seem is Eastern 's motto. Be the best that you can in whatever endeavor you puruse.
