Art Department i . t , . Miss Antoinette Ritter The Art Department, under the chair- manship of Miss Antoinette Ritter, offers an art curriculum and an art major which will prepare a girl for either college or art school, or an art minor which will simply give her better artistic appreciation. The art curriculum, Eastern's foreign ex- change student program with City Col- lege, provides the students from the two schools with instruction in sculpture, painting, commercial art, and industrial design at Eastern, and architecture and theater arts at City. Almost every girl, how- ever, whether she is an art student or not, enjoys contact with the art department, for the creative atmosphere of the tower studio seems to compel even the most steadfast realist to surrender herself to the wonderful world of the imagination.

Business Department Eastern's Business Education Depart- ment, under the supervision of Mr. Mau- rice Schreiber, trains commercial stu- dents in the fields of typing, stenography, bookkeeping, business machines, and of- fice practice. Through the use of modern machines- comptometers, rotary calcula- tors, mimeograph, dictaphone, duplicat- ing, and adding machines-girls are able to become better acquainted with the complex world of business. ln addition to secretarial courses, Eastern's Business Education Department also offers train- ing in commercial law and business mathe- matics. The students willingly lend their services to the rest of the school through their typing and mimeographing for vari- ous departments and activities. After high school, commercial students may decide to further their education or to embark on one of the wide variety of careers in busi- ness that are now open to them.
