All siudenfs were dismissed a+ noon, some fo go fo work, ofhers +o refurn affer lunch +o help wi+h 'rhe issuing of Rafion Book 2. Before The days arrived, pa+rio+ic sfudenfs gafhered wi+h fheir +eachers in +he audiiorium +o become acquainfed wiih +he process of issuing books. If was a complicafed affair, buf fhe 'teachers and siudenfs were glad fo do fheir part The books were issued in The lunchroom, which was furned info a very business-like office. A+ fhe head of each of ihe six divisions sal' a ieacher wifh fhe necessary supplies, and an R.O.T.C. boy. I+ was fhe du+y of +hese boys fo equalize 'lhe number of cus+omers which each division received. Mr. S+ark, head of fhe Commercial Deparfmenf and supervisor of +he procedure, hovered around, ready 'ro answer quesiions and seffle any diffi- culiies which mighi' arise. Soon +he cusfomers began arriving, and +he pencils of fhe feachers and sfudenis raced over fhe books and papers, filling in fhe necessary dafa. Someiimes business was slack, somefimes heavy: bu+ always fhe ieachers and s+uden+s were ready, willing, and able, as fhey will be in fhe fufure whenever such occasions arise.

The Eastern High School Mixed Chorus at rhe fall concert. FALL CONCERT An oulslanding success was +he verdicl on +he fall concerf, which was presenled on November 24 and 25. The lhree soloisls, Emile Simonel, Donald Hosfeller, and Shirleyan Cook, were lhe highlighls of +he occasion. Shirleyan played Lisz+'s Rhapsody No. ll like a professional, encoring wifh Valse Op. 64 by Chopin bolh nighrs. Don sang fhe Pilgrim's Song by Tschaikowsky, offering as an encore Wil'houl' a Song by Youmans. Emile performed 'rhe lirsl' movemenl' of Rieding's Concer+ino in D and Play Fiddle Play by Deufsch, lhe laHer being his encore on bolh nighls. Needless ro say all rhree were applauded long and enfhusiaslically. The mixed chorus opened fhe concerf wi+h Klemm's Lei There Be Song , arranged by Mr. Apfekar. The Girls' Glee Club presenled Nighl' Song by Clokeyg The Gay Ranchero by Hopping GrefchaninoFl's On lhe S'l'eppe g and Take Joy Home by Basset The orcheslra, under Mr. Paul Weiland's clirecfion, did a fine job of inferpreling lhe Lyric Overlure by Taylor and +he Bouree from Bach's Second Violin Sonala. Song of fhe Open Road by Malo'H'e was sung by lhe Boys' Glee Club. The boys also sang Friendship by Haesche and lhe much-beloved arrange- menl of Malol le's The Lord's Prayer , in which Clyde Weber's solo voice was very e'FFecl'ive. l Am fhe Wind by Dawson, Madam JeanneHe and Sing, Heigh-Ho , by Murray and McKay respecfively, were sung by l'he choir. The finale was Ode fo America by Cain, performed by 'rhe chorus and orcheslra combined. Miss Grace Jones, Mr. Paul Weiland, Mr. Millon Aplekar, and Miss Lois Dearing deserve much praise for l'he excellenl' performance. T enfy-four
