He set a Mississinewa Valley Record in the 880 yd. run in 1959, and he went to the State Track Meet in 1958 where he ran the 880 yd. run. 'fx BOB WARNOCK Most Valuable Player Cross Country Bob Warnock reecived his first most valuable player award in Cross Country in 1959. Bob received a total of 41 points in nine meets. His fastest time for the two mile course was 10:14.0. He won the Mississinewa Valley Conference meet in 10:19.0 out of a field of 4-2 boys. Bob came in second place in the Tri-County meet with 55 boys participating. Other meets Bob won were with Wabash, Northwestern, and Bunker Hill. GARY VOORHIS Most Valuable Player Football Gary Voorhis received his most valuable player award in Football in 1959 in his Senior year. This was Cary's fourth year with the Football team. He played Quarterback, and Halfback positions. In his senior year he was the leader in most tackles, and averaged about 4 yards per carry. He made 6 touchdowns, and his longest run was 82 yards. During his Football career he had an elbow and knee injury. DANNY PARSONS Most Valuable Player Baseball Danny Parsons received his most valuable player award in Base- ball in 1959. Danny played 2nd Base and a batting average of .384. He also pitched in two games. This was Danny's second year to play baseball. Because of injury Danny was unable to play in the last two games. Danny also made the Tri-County Conference All-Star Team. ART HAMMOND M ost Valuable Player Basketball Art Hammond received his first most valuable player award in Baseball in his Sophomore year. This was his first most valuable award in Basketball. This is his second year varsity and first year starting center. He received a total of 306 points during the year with a point average of 15.3. His fieldgoal average was 40.475, and his free throw average was 68.6'Zp. His highest points in one game was 34 against Northwestern. He was the second leading rebounder with 119. He made the second team of the Mississinewa Valley Conference. Art also made the Tri- County Conference All-Star Team.
