The Women's Organization The purpose of the Women's Organization at Eastern is to provide all members of the college community with as many services as possible relating to the chang- ing sex roles that are now evolving in our society. We hope to offer people the opportunity to communicate their feelings and ideas about being male or female. We are moving toward creating an atmosphere in which students feel free to be themselves without fear of rejection. We hope to dissolve any misconceptions people have about our organization and the Women's Movement in general. ls- sues which we are concerned with include consciousness raising, self defense, women's health, women in literature, and the feminist political movement. S The Drama Society The Harry Hope Theatre really became a theatre this year when it got itself painted black. It no longer looks like a gym with a stage in it, but a working, if small, off- Broadway theatre. The year got off to a rousing start with a large cast performing an original entertainment called A Forrogo in Timeg original because it was created by the cast and director working with no script whatsoever. Farrago was followed by Neil Simon's comedy smash, Plozo Suite, a show which taxed the resources of cast and crew alike. Lillo's 18th Century soap opera, The London Merchant was the first show of the second semester with still more surprises to follow. The Society had a productive year helped by an influx of fine new talent and it continues to feel that its basic purpose is to train actors, writers, directors and technical people how to do theatre in an efficient and professional manner. Indeed the Statement of Purpose reads in parts: to produce plays. The Society does-a lot. x 1 s. iff' Q , . Y X ' .2 K g 1 f A f gy , Q , rw' Q ' K M f - 4' , ,n 1 Wg C 'S 'wa ., Q D
