Band Concert Scheduled By JOAN DIEDRICKSON On Nov. 14, the Eastern Connecticut State College Concert Band will perform their annual fall concert in Shafer Auditorium under the baton of Mr. Robert Lemons. After the concert, a reception will be held in Shafer Student Lounge, All are cordially in- vited to attend. The program is well balanced. All sections of the band will be featured. Among the compositions to be performed are The Druken Sailor arranged by Grant Hill. Dvorak's Andante from the American Suite, N,Rimsky Korsakoff's Cortege and Fanfare from Snow Maiden, and Santana's Black Magic Woman, reflecting the students' rock and jazz interests. Other compositions that the band will feature include Sinfonia for Winds by Frank Ericson, Flourish for Wind Band by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Block M, a concert march by Jerry H. Bilik, and Variations on a Slovakian Folksong by Dmitri Kabalevski, arranged for band by Frank Siekmann and Richard Oliver will also be performed. A trumpet trio including Andy Frausini, Rob Ross and Bob Lemons will perform Rafael Mendez's Polka in the Box. fMendez is a famous trumpet player in California who both teaches and plays.J Short selections from the Brass Ensemble will also be per- formed.

Highlighting the day's ac- tivities will be four shows at the new planetarium plus an af- ternoon baseball game between Eastern's junior varsity and Thames Valley Technical College. In addition, there will be tours of the J. Eugene Smit Library, the physical education building, the arboretum, Goddard Hall and Keelor Hall. Parent's Day, said Dr. J. Parker Huber, 'twill give parents an opportlmity to meet the faculty, and to become acquainted with the college's instructional facilities. Dr, Huber, Eastern's Director of Research, is chairman of the Parents' Day program com- mittee. Another important program item is an information meeting on the formation of a Parents' Committee. This committee, Dr. Huber said, would serve as an advisory group to the college concerning the interests of parents, and at the same time would be a channel of in- formation between the two groups. Besides Dr. Huber, Parents' Day Planning Committee members include: students, Mary Beth Gelmini of Norwich, Barbara Grunning of Lebanon, Christine Saccerdote of East Hartford, and Patricia Terenzio of Stamford. ,E J 't giggles-' . ,LS S
