i , LAMBDA DELTA SIGMA Lambda Delta Sigma is a religious, honorary fraternity of Latter-Day Saint students enrolled at Gila College andother- colleges and universities Where an LD.S. Institute of Religion is established. Two chapters of this organization function at Gila College: Tau Alpha, boys' Chapter, officered this year by Wendell Bryce, Pres., Keith McRae, Vice-Pres., and Graydon Crabtree, Sec.-Treas., I'au Omega, Girls' chapter, headed by Bernadine Gibson, Pres., Gwendolyn Judd, Vice-Pres., and Olive Ferrin, Sec.-Treas. Orlando McBride, Director of the Institute, acts as adviser to both chapters As suggested in the preamble to its constitution, the purpose of Lambda Delta Sigma shall be to promote in the lives of its members, and on the campus, ideals of Religion, Fellowship, Intellectuality, Culture, and Leadership. The outstanding social and cultural events of this year have been the formal Sweet- heart's Ball, a Valentine-season affair, and the informal banquet held in the spring as a fond farewell to missionaries, parting friends, and classmates., Other events of the-year never to forsake memory were the Corn Roast of the Hills, the Xmas party for Fun, the Spanish Supper by the girls, and the Range party by the boys. A LAS AMLGAS Every woman student at Gilais a member of Las Amigas. Ardith Maloy was Presi- dentg Kathern Larson, Vice-Presidentg and Jo McClellan, Secretary. Club's Historian was Gwendolyn Judd, and club Music Leader, June Mortenson. Dean Nellie Lee was Club Advisor. I First on the calendar of events was the annual Faculty Tea given in the home of Mrs. W. H. Harless. 'This tea was a lovely initiation into college life. The Las Amigas Ball came next as we advanced along the calendar. November 11 was the date and Orienta1e was the theme. On the final day before Christmas vacation the Las Amigas girls were guests of the Safford Womens Club at their Christmas Tea. A White Elephant party was the first activity of the second semester. DELTA PSI QMEGA y P uuuu in l The Dramatic Fraternity of the Campus Pledging their support to the dramatic department of G.j.C., Delta Psi Omega welcomed eleven new members into their organization with two outstanding initiations. Various events included in the ceremony were wild bronc busting, a new version of V Peter Peter, Pumpkin Eater, fset to the music of Gila's school songj and several masterful orations delivered by those desiring admission to this association. Climaxing the eventful year, led by Spencer Palmer, Presidentg Ulban Chavez, Vice presiclentg and Nelda Larson, Secretary, was a picnic held at Marijilda Canyon.
