MUSIC Women's Glee Club, Men's Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, Male Quartet, Women's Trios, Band, Woodwind Quartet, Brass Quartet, String Ensemble-these are Gila's official music groups. How- ever, all music on the campus does not originate in the Music Cottage so that a composite picture of Gila's music makers would include almost any imaginable combination of performers produc- ing almost any imaginable combination of sounds. Groups from the Music Department performed throughout the year at various school and community functions. At the end of the year the classes in Harmony presented a program of original compositions in conjunction with an exhibit by students of the Art Department with the aid of the entire school served as hosts to the Eastern Arizona High School Music Festival. Perhaps the high points of the year were the band trip to Phoenix and El Centro, and the choral groups' performance of the Messiah and H. M. S. Pinafore. Another year promises richer harmonies, more exciting rhythms, and increased tempo for music at Gila. CHEER LEADERS Colleen Layton, Olive Perrin, Carol Ellsworth.

' H, l.,. ,, ' iu N J' ' - 'K 3 DRAMA DONALD JONES Under the inspiring leadership of Mr. Donald P. jones, the Gila Department of Speech and Drama has presented two outetanding forensic vspectacles. In the winter of 1946 the student body was treated with the unusual 3-act drama, Our Town. - Then again in March of '47 a hilarious comedy, January Thaw, was presented.
