GREETINGS! CLASS OF 1940. Dear Seniors: lust as your book depicts the olden times as compared with the present, your lite, during the next few years, will unconsciously be colored with the same thought-your high school days versus your present days. In high school, you have been under the rather close supervision and guidance of your teachers. We have tried, however, to help you to stand upon your own feet, we have tried to teach you to be honest, tolerant, opti- mistic, conscientious, trustworthy, loyal and understanding. The world has always needed men and women with these traits of character. The world ot today, however, with conflagration, striie, distrust and discontent running rampant, needs, perhaps more than ever, men and women who possess such traits. It is my earnest hope that you will go out in the world and take a place in it that will make you proud of yourself and us proud ot you. The school has grown to such a size that time has not permitted me to know each one ot you as well as I should like, it is my loss.
