Granted that we are varied in our individual inheritances,we still are one. Our activities at home, at school, in the community and over the land are so coordinated that our pur- poses come down to this: usefulness in living for the good of all. That goal may be realized only through cooperative effort. For this reason the 1948 Tri- angle dedicates itself to the theme - UNITED WE ARE' 13 fn xxx 1 We are proud that we are students of one of the many American schools which unites its efforts toward something fine and great-- The Development OF A FEELING OF UNITY AND PEACE Z. 3. The realization that my fellow students liked me as a friend gave me the confidence necessary to carry out the work of such high honor. Dear Classmates, At the time of the election, a full year was ahead for all of us. In my case, since I was chos'en as president, I foresaw that not only would I have to keep up with the required school work, but also to enter in all other school activities. This much I knew. The seniors would have to set themselves as examples for the underclassmen. Friendliness, inspiration, and encouragement would be the ideals to foster. As President of the Class of '48, Iwish to express the gratitude and thanks of all of us to our teachers, who have made our school life happy and profitable To my classmates, I give thanks, too, for the fun we have had and for mak- ing our senior year the best one that East has had. I remember Qand it wasn't so long ago, when a girl was strictly a drip if her skirt was not above her knees and if her sweater was not large enough to fit her father. Now the skirts are getting longer day by day and the sweaters are bought to fit the wearer. Such is life! Here is the annual fashion review as we have lived it the past few years. In '45, the well-dressed girl wore a baggy sweater and a very short pleated skirt. For a change, she could wear her brother's white shirt fthe one he was going to Wear for that big Saturday night datej and a dungaree. In '46, she went in for bangs. She cut her own hair and what a mess., In '47 the skirts became longer and lighter. Finally, by and during '48, the ballerina skirt, cute ruffled petticoats, and Gibson girl blouses made the new lookn. Oh, Yes! This is the modern age., Goodbye and good luck.
