For several years East Texas State has been rated as a powerhouse in the major sports in which the school participates. This year, through the untiring efforts of Coach Bobby Rogers, the Lion basketball team smashed into national sports headlines and stamped the college emblem into. sports his- tory by winning the N.A.l.A. crown. During Rogers' three-year stay as head basketball mentor the Lions have never met defeat on their home court, while losing only a small number of games on the road. For his part in producing the greatest athletic victory in the history of the college, we are proud to dedicate the 1955 Locust. With grim determination the Lions fought their way to the crown. While this was a fitting climax to the basketball careers of five Lions, the remaining quintet will have an- other year to equal the record. Stars there were, of course, but it is to the whole team for its fine play and sportsmanship, along with Coach Rogers, that we dedicate this issue of the Locust.
