It is now your opportunity to receive the honors and distinctions of this institution and to make for yourselves a place in the educational world as your predecessors have done. ln beginning your professional careers it is felt that the training which you have received in this institution, the culture with which you have been endowed and the spiritual devotion which has characterized you throughout your entire college career eminently fit you for service in. your chosen profession. ' It is now your responsibility to make some contributions to the great profession in which you have chosen to work. You are reminded that teachers ought not to be mere automatons, but they should be real dynamic forces in the communities where they work and should inspire the young life of America with the highest ideals for service to mankind. This service we confidently expect you to render. Your lives will no doubt be in keeping with the high ideals and standards of living you have seen exemplified on the campus of your Alma Mater. You should feel, therefore, a personal re- sponsibility in living up to the ideals in which you have thus far been schooled. A further suggestion is made relative to the con- tributions which you may make in life as the years come and go. The traditions of the college are made up of incidents taken from your lives. You should see to it, therefore, that the traditions of this college are made as rich and valuable as it is possible for human efforts to make them.
