The East Tennessee State University Theatre presented Electra by Jean Giraudoux in the University Amphitheater on July 11 and 12, 1975. The play dealt dramatically with corrupt governments, the threat of war, and the compromise that peace necessitates. Electra personified a character in the search for truth as she sought revenge for the murder of her father. Electra convinced her brother, Orestes, to help her gain revenge. Together, the two set out to kill their mother and her boyfriend, Aegisthus. As they committed matricide the city burned as it was devastated by enemies who overcame the corrupt kingdom. 3. Electra, Donna Dillinger, comforts Orestes, Gary Holley, following the matri- cide. 4. Aeigisthus, George Grant, angrily speaks to Electra.
