Dr. Charles C. Sherrod, a past president of State, presents Bundy and Grace with a certificate of appreciation for the many years of service they gave to the school as chief cooks. Coincident with the change of the college to East Tennessee State Teachers ' College, Dr. Charles C. Sherrod became the second president. It was through his efforts that many of the new buildings acquired during his administration were care¬ fully planned for maximum efficiency. The auditorium of the administration building was remodeled in 1926, and in 1931 the Charles C. Sherrod Library was erected. Carter Hall was completely remodeled and enlarged. From 1933 to 1935 the stadium and ampitheater were built. Other additions were the Home Management House, the Educational Clinic, and the N.Y.A. Shop. I n 1925 the school became East Tennessee State Teachers ' College. Greater expansion and improvement followed im¬ mediately. In 1928 the Training-School Building was erected, designed for observation, demonstration, and directed teaching. Being equipped with facilities for all elementary and high school students, the Training-School has been a destinctive feature of the college. The Training School has won national recognition for its work; delegations and teachers from various parts of East Tennessee have come here for observations. The first library building, now the fine arts building, housed a health clinic and branch of the State Laboratory.

Moved Forward in the Forties In 1926 we became an accredited member of the Amer¬ ican Association of Teachers ' Colleges and in 1927 East Tennessee State Teachers ' College was admitted into the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Now being a fully accredited teachers ' college, advances were further made in course study and curricula. Stand¬ ardization of quarter hours and credits followed and the number of students to a class was brought within the required limits. General development and advancement was characteristic of the period and enrollment increased despite the restrictions of the depression. During the 1930 ' s and ' 40 ' s students, alumni and faculty members Dr. Butterfield of the State Teachers College faculty and a group of men musicians would gather in the afternoon for tea.
